Dasha Riley, QLD
Thoughts of Spring, 2015
Digital photograph, metallic print (edition: 2/7 + AP), 75 x 75cm

Dasha Riley’s Thoughts of Spring is an evocative and resonant image – part studio photography portrait; part a nod to art history. Riley’s image appears self-referential and knowing – an enigma wrapped up in a visual puzzle. It reminded me of the work of Loretta Lux, who similarly creates ‘portraits’ of young children lost in seeming reveries or engaging with enigmatic objects or motifs. – Chris Saines CNZM
