Lindy McSwan, VIC
Horizon Lines, 2014
Mild steel, enamel, sand, oxidised patina, 8 vessels, dimensions variable

Lindy McSwan’s Horizon Lines uses eight ceramic vessels to create a horizon line of possibilities – as if the sun is setting or rising over the horizon’s edge and illuminating the ground beneath it. In the tradition of ceramic still-life pursued so eloquently by artists such as Gwynn Hansen Pigott, McSwan organises her bowls into an ascending or descending horizon line, like notes on a score sheet. – Chris Saines CNZM
