My encaustic original, 'Alice's Finches' is inspired by my experience of living in the Australian bush in 2016-17. That year taught me that whatever our experiences, wherever we’ve lived, and wherever we’re going, nature anchors us in the moment and gives us a universal sense of belonging. For the first time in my nomadic existence, I developed a deep bond with the land and a genuine appreciation of the life it supports. I fell in love with the bush: the stark, rain-starved landscapes, and the unique and diverse wildlife – especially the vibrant birds. My triptych, 'Alice's Finches' is an expression of that love, created in August 2019 and inspired by a photograph I took at a waterhole outside Alice Springs in May 2017.
