Peter Mungkuri of Iwantja Arts for his painting “Nguru (Country)” Peter says about his painting: ” . . . All us tjilpi (old men) used to be stockmen, we went everywhere working together; Mimili, Kenmore Park, Granite Downs, all over the place, every station; we had a good time working and didn’t worry about other things. Alice Prize Unpackers’Award 2016

The team of ‘Unpackers and Hangers’ for the Alice Prize have exercised their own judgement in choosing one artwork to be the winner of the Alice Prize Unpackers’ Award 2016. Congratulations to Lucy Irvine whose sculpture, “Taking” 2014, 75 x 155 x 120 cm has received recognition as the winner of the Alice Prize Unpackers’ Award 2016. It is made from electric fence cord carefully shaped and skilfully joined by the artist with thousands of cable ties. The huge box it was delivered in is also impressive!...

The team of ‘Unpackers and Hangers’ for the Alice Prize have exercised their own judgement in choosing one artwork to be the winner of the Unpackers’ Award. Congratulations to Faridah Cameron whose acrylic on canvas, “History” 2013, 175 x 175cm will receive recognition as the winner of the Alice Prize Unpackers’ Award 2014. Since the Unpackers do not always agree with each other, their secret ballot involves having several choices each. Around 10 or 12 artists were nominated, which stimulated interesting...
